Hold it Down
HiD’s beginnings come from the same place many great ideas have their origin: a group of friends making their way through college, tossing crazy thoughts to the wind. Some of those crazy thoughts remain nothing more than fleeting ideas; some of them, though, grow into something bigger. HiD would become one of those bigger ideas, one with the potential to make a positive impact on our world.
It all started during a late-night gaming session. NBA 2K was the game of choice, and a spur-of-the-moment debate arose when we questioned whether or not to add a tattoo to our in-game player. The idea of an anchor tattoo came about — to represent the mantra of ‘holding it down.’ While the anchor tattoo didn’t make its way onto the 2K character, it left its mark on us in a way that goes well beyond the scope of a video game.
‘Holding it down’ isn’t an original phrase, but it was something that connected all of us living together in house number 199. We were each other’s anchors, supporting and buoying one another through the ups and downs that life threw at us. Though time has passed and our friends have moved on to bigger things across the country, we all know that we’re never more than a phone call away. When we need each other, we’re there for each other. We created a family, and our brand is the embodiment of this family.
HiD is a testament to the heart and sacrifice we’ve put into creating a brand that people can believe in. We want others to feel anchored in their own lives — connected to their friends, family, and loved ones. Along the way, we’ve taken strides to make our products as environmentally-friendly as possible. Just like life itself, we are not perfect, but we do what we can to minimize our impact on the world we share.
